Default Using Variety of HP Printers in XP

We have always used a variety of HP printers and when
paper trays were set in a document, no matter which
printer was used (4+, 5N, 4000) the file printed from the
desired tray. Now since upgrading to Windows XP/Office XP
when used with a 4300tn the tray changes to "Printer Auto
Select". The same file can be opened with another printer
(4+, 5N, 4000) and the trays are as originally set - upper
tray (tray 1) and lower tray (tray 2).

The tray "printer auto select" does not exist when using
the printer under Windows 98/Office 97. Can anyone
explain why I am having an issue with this printer model
(4300tn).
