Default How to use Messenger Voice on a LAN?

I'd like to try Messenger (6.1) and talk to another Messenger user on a local LAN
address (not internet). How do I do that?

Ultimately I want to use Messenger to do internet calls between to DSL connected
computers. But for starters I'd like test tun on out LAN.

Greetings John,

Unfortunately you can't use MSN Messenger 6.1 to talk locally on a LAN-based environment, as
it requires access to the public .NET Messenger network (ie. requires Internet access to
logon to the service). However, if both computers were on a local network, and both log into
the service, the voice communication is peer-to-peer, meaning the voice conversation itself
will not leave the local network.
