Default Windows XP Pro Display Properties

I rebooted my computer tonight and upon restart my display
properties were changed without any action on my part. I
was using the Windows XP style under the appearance tab in
Display Properties, and after the reboot it converted my
desktop to Windows Classic style. Also, my fonts appear
abnormal and I didn't change any of this. I am unsure of
why this happened but if anyone knows how to change this
back it would be of great help. By the way, I have system
restore turned off. Also, the obvious solution to switch
my Windows and buttons: prompt back to WIndows XP style is
unavailable because the pulldown menu only shows Windows
Classic style.
