Folders list in Explorer Window
When I click on the shortcut I created for Windows
Explorer, I just get the single pane with files and folder listed. I want it to show the folders pane on the left. I have to click the Folders button every time and it is driving me insane. Does anyone know how I can get the Folder pane to show automatically? Is there a switch. Right now the Target on the shortcut properties shows as: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe C:\ TIA, Nancy |

Hi Nancy
Go to ProgramsAccessories, right click on the WE icon and select Properties. Type or copy/paste the following into the 'Target:' box to have WE open with the C drive expanded: %systemroot%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c: A new Desktop shortcut for WE can be created with the same command. Also have a look at the following article: "Windows Explorer Command-Line Options" http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;152457 -- Will Denny MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User Please reply to the News Groups "Nancy T." wrote in message ... | When I click on the shortcut I created for Windows | Explorer, I just get the single pane with files and folder | listed. Folders list in Explorer Window
Will,
THANK YOU! THANY YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I knew it had to be a switch. I just couldn't find what it was. And another thank you for the very quick reply. BTW, the Knowledge Base article you referred to below states that it only applies to Windows 2000 and NT. Should it also list XP or is there another article that applies to XP? I guess I can do my own search now that I know what to look for, but I thought I would point this out. Did I remember to thank you? Hi Nancy
You're welcome. The KB article applies to XP as well - at least the options seem to work here OK. -- Will Denny MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User Please reply to the News Groups "Nancy T." wrote in message ... | Will, | THANK YOU!
