Default oldest functional msn messenger ?

What is the oldest version of msn messenger that can still connect
with the network and not forced to upgrade?

(I am asking about msn messenger and not windows messenger)

Now, the rules are different if you're using NT4 or Win95 in which case 5.0 is allowed also.
