My PC keeps logging me in to windows messenger. I want to choose whether to
login or not. It logs me in without notifying me and leaves me ligged in without displaying anything on my taskbar. How do I get rid of it completely? -- tevia |

Click the tools menu, select options then click general, you will find some
tick boxes that enable you to control the way Messenger logs in and connects, etc. Hope that helps ? Andy W "tevia" wrote: My PC keeps logging me in to windows messenger. Greetings Tevia,
Lots of things can start Windows Messenger automatically. There are options in Messenger to stop this from appearing, you can change these options by clicking Start, then Run, typing "msmsgs" and clicking OK. Then, click the Tools menu, then Options, then Preferences tab, uncheck "Run this program when Windows starts" and "Allow this program to run in the background" and click OK. Then right-click the Windows Messenger icon in the notification area (by the clock) and choose Exit. Now, due to the nature of anything calling Windows Messenger can start it automatically, if you're still having the problem, you may want to simply remove your saved credentials so that it can't sign you in automatically. To do so, click the Start Button, then click the Control Panel. Then, click User Accounts in the Control Panel. Select the Windows account name in question, and then on the left side of the screen, under Related Tasks, click 'Manage my Network Passwords'. In the window that opens, click the Passport.Net\* (Passport) entry and click 'Remove'. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger/Windows Live Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com All posts unless otherwise specified are (c) 2006 Jonathan Kay.
