MSN Messenger freezing on login.
Just got a new laptop, installed msn beta 8 on it and it was fine for a day
or two. Tried logging in yesterday and it froze right after my contact list came up. It won't unfreeze for a few minutes and even then it just disconnects and say the connection to the network was lost and it tries again and freezes, requires a hung application close. I cannot get it to work still, it works on the other pc hooked up to the router still. I have tried: Uninstall/reinstall(both 7.5 and 8 beta) router and modem restart(suggested on another site) wired and wireless connections(same for both) disabling qos packet handling(did nothing so reenabled) spyware and virus scanning(nada) unchecking "remember me"(again suggested, no change) disabling all non-essential processes(no change) When I actually move the frozen window, it causes a second "phantom" msn messenger to appear on the task manager list(not processes though) I can surf fine, icq works fine, MSN Web Messenger works fine. |
