Default video resize problem

I have been messing with the media 11 player for a week to get it to work
right and still cannot get it to make whatever i'm watching go to full screen
when i play it in full screen. In my media 9 player i could get anything to
size full screen to the player when in full screen mode.I could also get the
controls like the speed bar and playback button are to drop away and only
re-appear on mouse movement.
Neither of these things can i get the media 11 player to do.I tried to roll
back to 9 but as soon as i upgraded it changed it to 11.Can these problems be
fixed or since i got Windows Vista Home Premium right in front of me is this
a portence of things to come?As it is i cant use Vista yet because some of my
hardware componets have Windows Vista stickers on them but the software isnt
compatable and they dont have the drivers on thier sites for Vista either. Why
they bothered with the sticker is beyond me,but i digress.I just put Windows
XP back in...
I need to know if these things are possible in media 11 player or since
microsoft got thier monopoly taken from them are all thier products going to
continually lose thier value with each upgrade?(Its a startling trend i've
noticed over the past 5 yrs.)

#1 - Is it possible to still get your video to go to the size of the screen
when you switch it to full screen mode or am i condemned to forever squint
watching thumbnail sizes?
#2 - Is it possible any longer to get the buttons bar(I'll call it)to drop
away after a few moments of video play time and re-appear only on mouse
movement(my mouse pointer would dissapear as well and only re-appear on mouse
movement)?

Sincerely

George
