Default Installing new printer

(cross-post added to XP Printing...)
"kianga0" wrote in message ...
My Canon printer stopped working so I bought a new Canon Multi-function PIXMA
MP180 but I cannot install it. The programs load but the computor will not
recognise them, except for the print one, and then only with some difficulty.
At this point when I try to print I get the message, "Printer not
responding".

While looking at news items I got a strange page and it contained a link for
"web print" which I recognised was a function of my new printer. When I tried
to print, I got the message that my version of Windows and Explorer did not
support this function and has blocked it.

Now I am wondering if my old printer had failed after all. Any suggestions?

I am using XP with all updates and IE 7.

Default Partition

Another solution, since the printer won't work with my usb port anyways, even with the f30 emulator, is to create a Windows XP partition on my drive just for printing, either that or I can buy a sereal to usb port connector, though that won't get around the lack of functionality either . . . there are options.
