Default Update HP Pavilion zd8000 to play HD DVD's

I just purchased Planet Earth in the HD DVD format and attempted to play it
on my WMP11. It does not acknowledge there is a disc in the drive no matter
what angle I go at it. I am to understand that there is firmware/software I
need to update to allow it to play. Can someone please assist me here?

Thanks in advance

You would need to purchase a whole new HD DVD optical drive and install it.

Can't find any internal PC HD DVD drives at NewEgg, though there are a
couple of Blu Ray drives. There is one external drive:

There are standalone units.
