Password expiry
Some PC's in our office require passwords to be renewed on a regular basis
and others don't. All machines are running xp pro. Where is the setting to change the password expiry policy? |

Where is the setting to change the password expiry policy? Are you using an Active Directory domain for your user logins, is so the settings will be on the domain servers. You can set a domain policy which I think only affects accounts created after the policy was set up. You can also set up requirements for each user separately. You can also configure how many old passwords are remembered and not allowed to be re used. If you are not using a server to validate log ins I am not sure how you chang ethe password expiry functionality or indeed if you can. I will try to rmemeber to have a look this evening. |

Password expiry
password policies are defined in either the local GPO if you are not on a
domain or on the Domain GPO. Local system: run gpedit.msc Computer Configuration Windows Settings Security Settings Account policies Password Policy From domain, open the mmc " Active Directory Users and Computers" Right click on the OU where the users are defined Select Properties Select the "Group Policy" Tab Highlight the GPO you wish to edit or create a new one. Select Edit and navigate to the same location as above "Chris Clarke-Williams" wrote: "Ken G." wrote: Some PC's in our office require passwords to be renewed on a regular basis and others don't.
