remove app from uninstall program list
Is there a way to remove an application from the uninstall/repair
program list? I deleted the application's directory & the application remain in the "program list"; it couldn't be deleted. In fact, even an old firefox version couldn't be removed from the list but remained due most likely to how firefox updated itself. Today, I did an uninstall of a trial application but its dll remained because they were "being used"; an error occured but also another dialogue popped up asking if I wanted the application to be removed from "program list"; naturally I selected "yes"; then rebooted to get rid of the dlls. So now wonder how to get the popup for getting the program removed from the program list! |

So now wonder how to get the popup for getting the program removed from the program list! Two ways: 1) the easy way is to use CCleaner and it has a tool to delete an APP from program list. 2) The second method is this: 1. Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe). 2. Locate the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall 3. Locate the key to be deleted by locating the key name created by the program. If the name of the key is not apparent, browse through each key and note the value for DisplayName. This is the viewable string in the Add/Remove Programs tool. 4. Using the Registry menu, export the selected registry key to make a backup. Store the .reg file in a safe location in case you need to import it at a later date. 5. Delete the selected registry key and its values. Do not delete the entire Uninstall key. 6. Quit Registry Editor. 7. Verify that the reference in the Add/Remove Programs tool is no longer visible. 3) As usual, when working with Registry keys, an intelligent person normally breaks things up. So do what you should be doing. -- 1. /*This post contains rich text (HTML). if you don't like it then you can kill-filter the poster without crying like a small baby.*/ 2. /*This message is best read in Mozilla Thunderbird as it uses 21st century technology.*/ |
