Default Using Acronis True Image 8 to clone to a specific partition

Hi:
I've been told there are many persons contributing to this newsgroup that
use the Acronis True Image 8 program, so I would appreciate any help I can
get from those users.

Using the Acronis disk imaging program, I've been unable to clone a HD to a
specific partition on another HD. The destination drive has two partitions
and I haven't able to find a way for Acronis True Image 8 to clone my source
disk to just one of the partitions on the destination drive. It would seem
that I could only clone to the entire disk, thus wiping out the two
partitions on the destination disk in this case. I can't seem to find an
option that would allow me to clone my source disk to a specific partition
on the destination disk. I tried doing this using the bootable CD and
through the Windows interface, but couldn't find a way to do it.

Using the Norton Ghost program, I've been able to clone my hard disk to a
specific partition on a multi-partitioned destination disk with no
difficulty. So I'm assuming (and hoping!) this capability also exists in the
Acronis program but I just haven't been able to access it. I submitted this
query to the Acronis forum and the responses I received indicated the
capability does not exist in the Acronis program; however, a friend who also
uses the Acronis program informed me that he was certain this capability
exists, but he just couldn't remember the steps involved to do it. I've been
quite impressed with the speed (data transfer) of the Acronis program (in
comparison to Ghost) and I would like to continue using it.

If the capability I'm looking for does indeed exist, I would be particularly
interested in how I could perform the clone to a specific partition on a
second HD using the Acronis bootable CD. Thanks for any help.
Anna

Anna,

I use Bing and don't use Acronis but why not just create an image and
then restore to the desired partition? This should work using Acronis.

He might be certain, but he's certainly WRONG.

You can't do a Disk to Partition copy. However you could Create an Image of
the disk to CD or DVD and then Restore the image to the specific partition
providing it had enough room to load the image file to.
