HD Space cut in half!!
Hi
I am running XP Home SP2 on a laptop with 40GB HD. Recently i deleted my linux partition to just use windows. After that windows booted fine. I then used gparted live to resize the C: drive with the unallocated space from linux When Gparted was resizing the C: drive near the end of the process it encountered an error. It returned to the main screen with all of the space onto the C: drive. When i go into my computer and check the drive it only says that the space is 15gb when it is meant to be around 37. The linux space has dissappeared. Now it will not let me resize or partition. I have tried partition magic and gparted. HELP!! I dont know where the space has gone thanks in advance |

Why don't you try Disk Director. It can restore lost partitions and hd space. You just need to make one more partition using unallocated space on a disk. Then you should split partitions. Hope it helps.

I do however have partition magic 8. It says that the drive is what it is supposed to be (approx 37GB). And so does any other partitioning software. Is it just xp that is getting the drive info wrong? |

Thanks but its not my problem, I know it is 37GB but windows is saying it is 15GB. Locate the program file PartInNT. You should find it in the install folder of Partition Magic. Otherwise you can get it here- ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...s/PartInNT.zip Run and click the "Copy to Clipboard" button. Paste to a reply to this message. |
