Hummm, my wife would see right through that kind of diplomacy..... :-)

Speaking of coffee, I'm glad I wasn't drinking mine when you said that
:-)

Not drinking coffee when laughing is better for the keyboard, I always
say.

Oh, I don't know. Sometimes it's a good excuse to wash all of the dust
and bread crumbs out :-)

Did that some time back and all they teach is the basics. How to use email.
Searching the web. Virus protection. Burning disks. Some info on Forums
and chats. They cover the real basics. Nothing beyond what most newbie
already know who manages to get online. They're geared for someone who just
bought a PC and is afraid to unbox it. Those with no experience at all,or
very little. Learning about MS software is not a big part of the what's
taught.

Then find a second level class. *Please*.

I sincerely think that if a good course or book can be found, it would
help R.H. Breener more than piecemeal asking an ad hoc question every
time he[1] gets stumped.

If you mean you think he'll get tired of posting here, he is not at all
new to Windows newsgroups.

[1] Lacking gender information, I'm using "he" in the generic sense.

If you were hiding extensions, the real extension would be hidden after
that. Except that isn't true here - the above is a legitimate extension.

Thanks. Got that handled and fixed. I located the email I needed. Vista is
still opening with a long list of ever increasing size under a folder called
Recovered Messages. All the folders are empty. I'm still able to send and
receive mail so will leave it alone until I can get some kind of mail
software working on W8.

You might want to check around in your local community to see what
kinds of
computer classes are available since you seem to have trouble on a
regular

Guilty as charged, but hopefully also helpful. ;-)

This guy needs help of the basic variety before he should be tackling
grafting an old email program onto a new OS. You can tell where a person
is
at by the questions they ask, and this guy is at 'Start'. That's not
necessarily a bad thing. Everyone starts somewhere.

Just saying....this entire episode on multiple topics with repeated
responses could be just a drive-by charade. From my vantage point, the
members of this group have been quite altruistic....thus at this stage,
any more responses might just keep feeding enough info to generate other
locally created scenarios that may or may not even exist in reality.

I was beginning to think the topic might be a ruse. However, based upon
the
OP's eventual follow-up, I feel he was in earnest with his solicitation
for
assistance.

Now the case appears to be closed, I would like to suggest he completely
dump
Windows Mail and migrate to a web based interface such as Gmail or at the
very
least switch over to Thunderbird.

I installed Thunderbird but haven't had much time to mess with it. Other
things are taking priority with the LT. If that doesn't pan out I'll have
to go to gmail on the web, not something I look forward to. You guys were a
great help when I installed WindowsMail on W7. After something like 2 years
it's still working.

Yes, I've been following this thread, so I've been aware that you got it
going, I imagine with a great sight of relief :-)

I don't agree with your opinion, but who can be sure?
