Default Windows NTUninstall folders

What should I do with all these uninstall folders that Windows keeps as
subfolders of my windows folder?

Should they be deleted after a while?

These are the files that are backed up when you install Hotfixes (or those
that can be uninstalled anyway). They're there, in case you have a problem
with a particular Hotfix and want to remove it. Your original files can be
put back, by the uninstall routine. If your system is stable and you don't
need to remove any of the hot fixes, see www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities,
Remove Hotfix Backup Files. This small utility will remove the files for
you, as well as the Registry entries for these items in Add/Remove Programs.

Thanks Doug. I ran the utility but it still left a bunch of uninstall
folders. If my system is stable, should I just go into explorer and delete
all those folders out, including the one for the service pack 1A?

The utility specifically does not remove the SP uninstall folder, so that's
normal. As for the others, I'd have to have a list of them, and an export
of the corresponding Registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall

to make any kind of judgement. If the hotfix is listed in Add/Remove, then
the backup files should be removed as well. Updates for IE, OE and other
apps, don't count as "hotfixes" for the purposes of my utility.
