Default Encoding

I would like to set my default encoding to Western European (Windows)
instead of the current selection. When I do change it, it doesn't remain
changed.
I've tried changing it both in IE8 and in WLM with the same results.
where must I go to make the change permanent?
Many thanks,
Dave

Hi, Dave.

Often, HOW you change something is even more important than WHAT you
changed. And you didn't tell us HOW you changed the default encoding. The
View | Encoding settings are not very persistent.

Are you trying to change the encoding in what you READ in WLM:
Tools | Options | Read | International Settings | Default encoding

Or in messages you WRITE:
Tools | Options | Send | International Settings | Default encoding

Or something else?

I was using the View Encoding settings, which seems to
default to UTF-8, even if you select Western European.
It would seem logical to me that if they allow you to
change the setting there, it should remain, however,
I took your advice and used the:
Tools | Options | Read | International Settings | Default encoding
setting and will see how persistent that one is...

Thanks,
Dave
