Have Acronis people started Activation system for all of their products
like Microsoft, Adobe and others?

I haven't bought their products since 2009 so wondered what the current
situation is.

Thank you

If you mean the "call home" function, yes for ATIHome. Somewhere about
2012 I think. I have 9/10/12/13/14 And I loaded version 12 somewhere
on two PC's and they activated, but a few days later one of them alerted
me to the fact that it was installed on two PC's and this one was going
to be deactivated.

And I tried moving it from PC to PC and you have to go to your account
page and login and deactivate the usage for PC #1 in order to then
activate PC #2.

So take it from there.

+1 (Activation was deployed quite a few versions ago with single
license, single pc. Reduced pricing is available on the 3 pc versions.

Just a note....if you are purchasing and can find an ATI2013 version and
register it, Acronis provides upgrades to ATI2014 free of charge.
- Note: Retail versions are bootable and can be used without
installation. Download version media is not bootable, but once
registered a bootable backup/restore media can be downloaded and used
in lieu of installation.

2010 Personal is decent, but I still prefer old Symantec (v6.5 in
WinPE)/Norton (2003 DOS) Ghost.

Hi Peter,
I need to clarify my earlier statement.
The offer to upgrade from 2013 to 2014 free of charge is available but
to receive it one must open the download link on a Windows 8/8.1 pc.

http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing...-upgrade/win8/

If accessing the link from Win7 (their server after identifying the o/s)
shows (at this end) the 20% discount offer.

Here's the link to the 2013 forum article showing the offer
https://forum.acronis.com/forum/50750

Note: Once all requirements are met using a Win8 system (registration,
etc.) the product download and serial number product key (for
activation)will be available in the registered users My Account/Products
and Download section. Additionally available will be the download for
the bootable Rescue Media which can be used to backup and restore.
- both Program and Rescue Media can be used on Win7, the latter does
not install nor does it require ATI 13 or 14 to be installed.

When **clean installing** the ATI14 Program 'upgrade' version, since it
is an upgrade, the user will need to enter both version serial numbers
when prompted (ATI13 and ATI14). If installing the 2014 upgrade on top
of 2013, then only the 2014 registered serial number is necessary.
-

Finally, if not gathered from above, the upgrade is still single
license, one pc for installed versions and replaces the prior activated
version.

Likewise, the 3 pc Family Pack 2013 version can also be upgraded.

Did/Do know all this - using ATIH since version 2011 ...

I baught a Plextor mSATA SSD a few days ago from Scan computers uk. This
SSD came with Acronis 2014 (from Scan) as a freebie, Im sure it is not
Premium but I dont know which bits are restricted, it seems impossible
to find out without trying every facility to find if it works! The
version certainly produces viable bootable media with all the backup
software on it that Im used to from using previous versions 10 and 11
(though with a much posher GUI!) plus the Disk director version 10 on
the media. An activation key came hardcopy with the drive purchase. The
installation has TRIM software, not tried it though, good modern SSDs
seem to manage their own these days in the onboard firmware!. C+

You can also get free from Seagate:

http://m.seagate.com/gb/en/support/downloads/discwizard/

This version installs on any machine that has Seagate or Maxtor drives
whether Internal or External portable or cloud hard disks.

Seagate and Western Digital offer the same software. The
software is keyed to their respective brands of drives. And
Acronis branding can typically be seen in the PDF manual.

Just to clarify, if the keyed software finds any qualifying drive, then it
works on every drive in the system, not just on the qualifying drive(s).
This is probably obvious or assumed by most people, but just in case...

Don't know if this still works...
