Drivers for Realtek RTL8192S WLAN Adapter
I need W7 drivers for my new Realtek RTL8192S WLAN Adapter .
I googled the thing, and every site wants me to download/install/buy a driver scan utility which I do not want. Can anyone point me to a site from which I can download both a 32-bit and a 64-bit version of the drivers? Thanks Me |

I've found that if no win7 drivers are avail, the XP driver usually works fine. Just pay attention to 32/64 bit. |

And you are right. I downloaded drivers from the Realtek site, and none of the three I tried worked. So I will tell U my real problem. What I have bought (and it did NOT come with drivers) is a WIFI USB adapter that my main W7 PC picks up immediately and it seems to work. Device Manager identifies it as a network adapter: Realtek RTL 8192EU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB2 Network Adapter My goal is to have the adapter work in a second W7 PC I want to give my son. It is a DELL Inspiron 530s in which the wireless card that came with it doesn't seem to want to work. Interestingly a CAT5 hard wire connection to my router works just fine on the Inspiron. Anyway, when I put the new adapter card into the Inspiron's USB, its Device Manager does not pick it up ad a wireless adapter at all. Instead, it shows it as an unidentified device. I tried the three driver downloads i got, and none worked. So I guess I really need a suggestion on what I shud do next. Anyone? Me |

I tried the three driver downloads i got, and none worked. So I guess I really need a suggestion on what I shud do next. Anyone? Me I would boot the machine from a Linux Mint LiveCD just to see if the internal WiFi card in his notebook is working under Linux. If it doesn't work under linux, the problem is probably a bad card. If it does work under Linux, you might have a contamination or configuration issue with Windows 7. If it is a bad card, you can buy a replacement very inexpensively (if you want to know where, just ask) and the replacement process is very easy, probably no more than 4 screws. Pardon me to butt in, please. I had the same problem with a Ethernet driver. I can't remember the make of the machine, but it was NOT a Dell. It was also old. I downloaded the driver from the HP site and it just did not work. After Googling I eventually found a bit of a forum where one guy had exactly the same problem. His machine was NOT a Dell. Somebody had solved the problem and posted the link to a Dell driver which worked for him and the other guy. It also worked for me. It did take me a bit of Googling to find the answer. |

I see no 8192EU. Maybe I am blind. I have been told so. Me I think you're blind on another count. You may have the identifier wrong ? Maybe it's not 8192EU ? In the list here, I can see lots of 8192 devices, but no 8192EU. That's why I have my suspicions... http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids And don't let the "linux" in that link bother you. The list is a list of unofficial VID/PID values for hardware, which applies to any OS attempting to do Plug and Play identification of hardware. The official lists are not public knowledge, because some devices are not released yet, and so the identifiers cannot be officially displayed. And thus the people out here have to rely on unofficial lists at a time like this. Not *every* hardware is in that list, but the lack of a 8192EU on that list, and a lack of a 8192EU on the actual RealTek site, makes me suspicious. Even if you were to give us a web link to where you bought the device, that might not help. Because hardware makers sometimes change the chipset inside the device, without changing the product SKU (Stock Keeping Unit number). Paul |
