Drivers for Realtek RTL8192S WLAN Adapter

Shotgun approach: install ALL the 8192 drivers and possibly the related inf's from the other computer since the device works in that machine. It's OK. I found one :-) I decided to read a few more Linux articles. I got the VID and PID of the 8192EU from the articles. vid_0bda pid_818b http://www.maxxter.biz/default.aspx?...2=item&id=8280 ACT-WNP-UA-005 CD-PACK (updated) (77651 Kb) http://www.maxxter.biz/repository/82...354BC21454.rar That's a 79,515,339 byte download, of which only about 4MB is needed for the smallest installation. driver\windows\RTWLANU_Driver\Win7X64\ 12/18/2014 10:35 PM 29,084 netrtwlanu.cat 12/16/2014 12:09 PM 253,312 netrtwlanu.inf 12/16/2014 12:09 PM 8,585 rtlCoInst.dat 12/16/2014 12:09 PM 22,232 rtlCoInst.dll 12/16/2014 12:09 PM 3,664,600 rtwlanu.sys That's just the NDIS portion. You could try right-clicking netrtwlanu.inf and selecting "Install". ;; Realtek Wireless 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Network Adapter ;; ;; Copyright (C) 2012 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. ;; ;; This release is primarily for WHQL test. RTL8192eu.DeviceDesc = "Realtek RTL8192EU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter" I haven't seen any hints in these drivers, as to whether the various configs are for country specific stuff (different channel assignments for NA versus Europe). The install files are "all business" and don't have hints. So that company, Maxxter, went above and beyond compared to the rest of the "$10 competitors". Paul |

Thanks Me Realtek hardware is commonly found on-board (mobo) - your mobo, pc provider web sites may provide links for the correct (and recommended) driver. Winston, RealTek site has them he http://www.realtek.com/downloads/dow...ue #RTL8192SU Look down thru the listing on that page or do a search on the page. Bob S. Hi, Bob. I'm yet to be convinced, after re-reading the op's info that the drivers available from RealTek will meet the desired need. -- ...winston msft mvp consumer apps |

Drivers for Realtek RTL8192S WLAN Adapter

I tried the three driver downloads i got, and none worked. You gave an incomplete model number as per those listed at Realtek's site. Realtek lists RTL8192SE and RTL8192SU but you you only mentioned RTL8192S (i.e., the last char is missing in the model you gave). At the download page I gave you, there are only 2 Windows 7 drivers, not 3. They show RTL8192SE has a version 2021.0.0203.2012 Windows 7 driver and RTL8292SU has a version 1086.48.0809.2011 Windows 7 driver. Where did you find 3 Win7 drivers there for all chip models starting with RTL8192S? |

snip If you hit your search engine, you can find *Linux* references to that identifier. As for the hardware itself, some of those stuff uses two identifiers. The chip itself (MAC/LLC Media Access Controller, Logical Link Layer) may have its own number. When a "design" is put together (requiring radio chips or not, having different numbers of antennas or not), they can use a second number to describe the entire design. Some of the chips even come with multiple hardware interfaces, so the same chip does the PCI Express version as well as a USB version. I downloaded one file from a "driver site" and it had absolutely nothing to do with 9182EU. This sorta crap makes me really angry. I had to take that over and install it in Ubuntu using WINE, to get the uninstaller unpacked, to find it was the equivalent of a Wireless Zero Config type of package. After 150MB of false leads on the Windows side, I threw in the towel. Paul Yep. I guess I have seen at least one situation where the apparently correct driver does not work. IIRC it was with a Realtek sound card where I had to use an AC-97 driver Once in a while, if one lets Windows update the driver, it will eventually find and install the right one. |
