Oreally The Icon Configuration Utility (ICU) from http://funk.eu/icu-icon-configuration-utility/ has the capability of setting where a new icon on your desktop goes. The primary purpose of ICU, however, is to save your desktop layout so that you can later restore it. -- David E. Ross Is Kim Davis a hero or a villain? See my http://www.rossde.com/KimDavis.html. |

Oreally The Icon Configuration Utility (ICU) from http://funk.eu/icu-icon-configuration-utility/ has the capability of setting where a new icon on your desktop goes. The primary purpose of ICU, however, is to save your desktop layout so that you can later restore it. Reading that page, I see "You can decide what to do with any icons that have been added since you last saved the configuration file – the default is to put them in the top-left corner, but you can also banish them way off-screen or, more sensibly, specify a location for them." - which to me sounds as if it lets you specify where _icons that have been created since you last did a save_, i. e. it moves them there when you do a restore - not quite what OREALLY wanted, which was to specify where new ones go _when they're created_. (I'd never put them in the middle of the screen as that's the most likely place to be obscured by windows, popups, splash screens ... but each to his own!) -- J. P. Gilliver. I think the OP wants to change the default "where do new icons get created" location, but I'm not aware of any way to do that. -- Stan Brown, Oak Road Systems, Tompkins County, New York, USA http://BrownMath.com/ http://OakRoadSystems.com/ Shikata ga nai... |

I see. Yea, you are probably correct about op wanting to save to elsewhere. |
