I want to pin a desktop internet shortcut to the W10 taskbar.
The shortcut is to the IXQUICK website:

I have googled the topic, and found a few howto tips including:
http://www.digitaltrends.com/computi...-and-task-bar/

but have had no success. Its probably me.
Can someone suggest a simple technique that has worked for them?
Why on earth would MS omit this?

To engage that functionality, you must open the link in Internet
Explorer. You then navigate to the website and point your mouse at the
favicon for the site. A tooltip should pop up saying "Drag to taskbar to
pin site." You drag the icon to the taskbar, and it will pin the *site*
to the taskbar, rather than Internet Explorer itself, and when you click
on that taskbar icon, Internet Explorer will color code its display based
on the favicon. It essentially turns the website into an app rendered in
IE.

This functionality does not exist in Edge. All you can do is pin the Edge
app to the taskbar, and then pin the item to the jump list. You can then
access the site by opening the jump list. Since Edge is the de facto
standard going forward, I would expect the IE functionality to be removed
at some point.

But for now, you have IE to pin individual sites.

Maybe this is why I don't see how to pin an icon to my taskbar. I am
using W10Home w/MS Edge. All I see is a 'lock' symbol to the left of
URL addresses.
Thanks
Johnny

I am almost certain Win 10 Home has Internet Explorer built in, but you
have to type "Internet Explorer" after pressing the start button (or
drill down to the start menu folder called "Windows Accessories." It
should be in there.)

I can't be 100% certain, because my installation is Win 10 Pro.

Thanks

That worked for me - gave me IE11. I'll try to pin using that.
