Default C:\Win\Sys32\Spool\Printers - safe to delete?

This directory on my laptop has close to 5 gig of nothing but tmp files, some
3 years old.

1) Should they be automatically deleting?
2) Are they safe to delete?
3) Is there a procedure to delete them or can I just select them and hit DEL?

Thanks!

"Leftover SPL, SHD, and TMP Files Remain in the Spool Directory After
All Print Jobs Are Complete"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/264662

(also applies to Windows XP.)

The Print Spooler service takes print jobs from applications (e.g.,
Microsoft Word) and sends them to your printer. The Print Spooler
creates the temporary files in \spool\printers.

Glad to help. Please post back if you determine a cause for that
problem, so other people in the same situation can benefit.

Of course, no one will be able to benefit if you snip previous posts.
Capice?
