Has anyone *not* gotten the 1809 update yet?
Obviously it's a highly controversial upgrade, maybe it's best to not
ever upgrade to it, but Microsoft is already talking about the 1904 upgrade. I haven't been offered this upgrade yet. Microsoft usually doesn't allow an upgrade between two non-adjacent versions. Just concerned that I may get stuck on 1803 forever, or I'm going to be offered the 1809 just weeks before 1904 is offered to me, and I'd have to go through two major upgrades soon after each other. |

I had a similar problem with 1803. It just wouldn't install on my 1709 system. I finally downloaded 1809 from Microsoft's page using their upgrade tool, and loaded it as an ISO on a thumb drive. I then mounted it to a software DVD drive, and ran setup.exe from there. No problems and it worked fine. You might want to look into some of the issues with 1809. There are some outstanding bugs that haven't been fixed yet, and if Microsoft determines that they would affect your system, they won't send you the upgrade. If you determine that is not the issue, or you want to go ahead and try it anyway, just use the same method I did. |

I have a test install here (activated) that has not been offered 1809 by Windows Update. Still at 1803. Patch Tuesdays are coming in as normal. Nothing should really block the Upgrade, since the video card present in the machine now is still in support (for another three years at least). They will push 1809 to you, roughly one month before 1904. For hard cases (tablet owners), they tend to put a push on near the end of a cycle. For my test install case, that means in another month or so, I'll be getting it. I've never received an Upgrade via Windows Update yet! I'm not patient enough for that. However, that test install is specifically for testing Windows Update Upgrade behavior, so waiting is all part of the fun for my test case. I usually jam in a DVD, for the images that are considered production. Paul |
