You're weird, you don't want a ball and chain to constantly bother you? OK. I was just informing you (and everyone) that as long as they have Internet, they can have fantastic cellular signal throughout their house. For free. However, if you don't _want_ cellular signal, that's a different story. I already knew about the femtocell from the earlier thread. But, it has it's limitations too. I've got a friend who visits once in a while. The first time she was here, her phone did not work, of course. She complained about that. A couple trips later, I looked at her phone, and connected it to my router. Now, she complains it keeps bothering her! Guess I can't win. LOL if you mean connect to your router's wifi, that won't help with phone calls, and there is also no reason why her phone would continue to bother her about the connection when she is not within range. |

But you're out working in the garden. So he dies. Some friend you are. There's no guarantee the cell phone didn't get broken, is there? Where's the guarantee the signal would reach anything from the bottom of the well? How many wells are there that you can actually fall into? Most are 4" or 6" steel casings, these days. What if that happened 30 years ago? Why didn't my friend take some responsibility in what (s)he was doing so they did not fall into the well? What if your car rolled over due to a flat tire, and you're 50 miles from any cell service? We can come up with a thousand of these what if scenarios, that are highly unlikely to happen. Life is not utopia, there will always be risks. But you can't afford utopia at all costs. If you don't want risks, stay home in your chair. Don't fly in an airplane. Don't book a trip into outer space. Don't be an astronaut. Deep sea diver. Don't be a submariner. :-) -- Ken MacOS 10.14.6 Firefox 70.0.1 Thunderbird 60.9 "My brain is like lightning, a quick flash and it's gone!" |

In response to what nospam wrote :
Maybe I don't understand your situation well enough to help you? as is always the case. What's odd about you nospam is you never miss a chance... o To prove you play your always fifth-grade always childish games... Anyway, to always strive to add adult value to any thread I post to... 1. If you have Internet, a femtocell attached to the router gives you cellular signal that is pretty damn good throughout the house. 2. If you have less than about -100 decibels of cellular signal, then even without Internet, a cellular repeater in your upstairs window will give you a cellular signal inside the house that's usable. 3. If you have an Android phone, you can walk around the house to see exactly what those cellular signal strengths are, where you can see exactly which micro cell tower your cell phone is connecting to any given time. 4. If you're on iOS, then you'll have to ask nospam for a debugging solution, since he'll just make one up on the fly for you any time he wants to (I think he makes up this functionality because he hates that iOS doesn't have it). -- Usenet works best when adults post with purposefully helpful intentions. |
