Rename PC no DC available
How do I rename Win 2003 server that was originally part of a domain but the domain is no longer available. I can login locally as admin but when I try to change the server name it asks for what seems to be the admin and password for the non existent domain? I don't want to have to re install OS.
thankssssssssssssss |

If the domain no longer exists - why is it still a member? Remove it from the domain. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

Note: once you've done this, no old fomain accounts will be able to log into the server using cached credentials; make sure you've created local accounts with the levels of permissions you need before proceeding. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555375 They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. ~Benjamin Franklin Many people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. ~Bertrand Russell The philosopher has never killed any priests, whereas the priest has killed a great many philosophers. ~ Denis Diderot |
