"Local Network Cable Unplugged" error

Hi,

I keep getting this error once in a while. It doesn't seem to
actually be true. Is this something to be concerned about and how do
I fix or stop it?

Mobo is an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
On-board Network Adapter is a Marvell Yukon 88E8001
Unfortuneatly the on-board NVIDIA nForce Network Controller was
distroyed (or it appears so - I have it disabled now) during a severe
lightening strike but the MB survived!

I have it hooked up to a LinkSys Wireless G router

Any ideas?

The motherboard did not actually "survive" intact. It is failing
occasionally and that is why you're getting the error. Either live with
it until the board fails completely, purchase a PCI network adapter and
hope the board lives on, or replace the motherboard. Get an
Uninterruptible Power Supply for future protection from lightning
storms.

Thanks! If memory serves me right, this has always been an issue. I
did, in fact have a UPS (Energizer brand) running with the ethernet
cables going in and out of both (yes, I had two - one for my
router/switch and one for my PC). It was a 1 in a 1000 lightening
storm that we experience where we live.

Hey Malke, I just asked my wife and she says she gets that error
message once in a while too (but it appears not as often as I do).
