"Lost" External DVD Writer
I have a HP external DVD writer that I installed about a month ago. All went
well till a few days ago when the system would not recognize it. It does not show up on the devices list (Win XP w/service pak 2). I tried reinstalling the softeware and then unplugging and re-attaching the USB cable but that did not help. What am I doing wrong? Any help appreciated! Steve |

First thing to do is plug it into another PC and see if it's detected to
determine if the problem is the drive or your computer. "sabyers" wrote in message .. . I have a HP external DVD writer that I installed about a month ago. "Lost" External DVD Writer
Hi! An update ... Having tried what I thought was all the things to try - I
realized I had not turned the writer off and back on! That took care of it! Thanks for all the input. Steve "sabyers" wrote in message .. .
