Default Moving offline files for remote users...

I have a question on moving synchronized offline files for remote users....

How do you move a remote user’s network files (which they have available
offline) from one server to another? A little background...

I have 29 remote users who have shares our file server. We are moving to a
new file server, and I need to move their files over - hopefully without
asking for each laptop back. We have offline files setup on their computers,
so that when they connect via VPN, their files get synchronized.

I tested this move on a laptop here - I copied the files over to our new
server, stopped the share on the current server and changed the user setting
to have their personal files point to the new share, and I stopped the
offline files option on the laptop. I successfully mapped the new drieve, but
when I tried to synchronize the files for offline availability for the new
share on our new server, it timed out (I was doing it over dial-up, which 99%
of our users will be using). I started all over again, but this time I tried
just stopping the share on the server and synchronizing, but when I
connected, it told me synchronization was successful...but it can’t be,
because that share doesn’t exist.

How can I do this for my users?

Thanks in advance,

Sunnie
