Default Adobe Gamma

I have 2 games [Nancy Drew Secret of shadow Ranch, and Myst Exile from the 10th
anniversary DVD] That are next to impossible to navigate because of darkness of
the images in the game.
Myst came with 3 games. the other 2 are fine. A previous ND Game , Blackmoor
Manor was also fine as long as I turned the gamma all the way up. I need to
turn the gamma all the way up for all the games. Plus DVD movies I need to set
the gamma up from the DVD's defaults etc..

I use this link http://members.toast.net/cbminfo/all...olorblind.html all
the time to check my monitors colors and etc.. It's set just fine, but the
games [2 specific above] are unaffected by any changes to the desktop gamma,
where others are.

the ND game also has a brightness setting, but even at full bright it seems to
only affect the settings page brightness because when you resume the game it
reverts to darker making a lot of the dark areas become completely black.

I just installed the adobe gamma, but can't find it in the control panel. I've
found the only way to find it would is revert to classic view ? Or is there a
way to show it in XP mode ?

And if anyone has a clue why or how to brighten things up inside these two
games would be nice also.

I've been thru all the prescribed adjustments using the AIW settings, and the
setup from inside the games. Figured maybe the adobe gamma might help. I've
been using just the AIW settings because the two [AIW and Adobe gamma] never
agree with each other.

Even went so far as to bring up the brightness and contrast till the desktop
was white as a sheet [it's a changing image on a green background normally].
Washed out the entire desktop. Couldn't tell one icon from the next. They were
all white.
Still NADA..

Have you thought about going to the web site of your graphics card and looking for an
updated driver?
What happens when you change the compatibility settings?

I fixed the ND game by modifying the gamma adjustment startups in the nd.ini
file. It only half fixes it. The darks when they're light enough make the
lights totally worthless. so just need to keep switching between setup and game
when changing from night to day.

The ranges just need tweaking. Or rather the dark images needed to be lightened
up before releasing the game.

Shouldn't have to have 'turn your gamma all the way up' as a prerequisite setup
to running anything. But right there in the beginning of the game the intro
tells you turn the gamma all the way up so you don't miss anything.

I can only hope Myst has something similar in it's ini to adjust.
