We are trying to re-install a printer on a laptop and we encounter an error
message that reads HPFDJ50.INI is missing what does this mean

That file is part of the printer's driver.

Obtain a Windows XP-compatible driver from HP's web site. Follow the driver
installation instructions carefully. You'll be fine.
