setting up the hotmail account in outlook is easy all you type in is
your hotmail email address and it fills the rest in for you. On Mon, 7 Feb 2005 09:59:05 -0800, "Patrick" wrote: How can I set up an outlook express account to receive my hotmail emails (I just need to know what to put in the pop3 entry in account setup) Thanks |

Of course, you could use their help web pages to look it up but it won't be usable by you until you pay them for it. Oh wait, Hotmail hasn't provided POP3 and SMTP servers for something like 3 years now. They only have their webmail service which includes WebDAV (HTTP) access which is supported by only Outlook and Outlook Express - but you still have to PAY them to get WebDAV access. Otherwise, enjoy using their webmail pages. |

hotmail in outlook express
MSN Hotmail no longer supports Distributed Authoring and Versioning (DAV)
for free user accounts. Outlook Express uses the DAV interface to connect to Hotmail. Only "paid Hotmail accounts" will work correctly with Outlook Express. If you configured Outlook Express or Outlook to access your Hotmail account before DAV support was ended, you may still be able to use Outlook Express to open a free Hotmail account. However, eventually Hotmail will no longer support DAV for all free Hotmail accounts. You receive an error message when you use Outlook Express to access your Hotmail account http://support.microsoft.com/default...62&Product=oex If you want to use Outlook Express to access your Hotmail account, you must have an MSN subscription. On the list do not choose POP3 but HTML and than in the upper list choose
MSN. OE will automatically put proper address. But remember that Hotmail is accessable from OE only when paid. "Patrick" wrote: How can I set up an outlook express account to receive my hotmail emails (I just need to know what to put in the pop3 entry in account setup) Thanks -- Patrick |

To clarify - new "free" hotmail accounts, and any "old free not using
WebDAV" will not be able to use "WebDAV" unless the account is changed a "paid" account, the old accounts, provided they have already been using "WebDAV", are to be grandfathered (somehow MS has a way to telling if you've been using Outlook/Outlook Express and WebDAV), until the account becomes inactive or a "paid" account - this is the info I've got from a MSN/hotmail rep (but how accurate, well your guess is good as mine). I do know, I've been using mine "free" "hotmail" account via WebDAV for about 3 years now, and it still works at this time, although you never know, it may stop tomorrow? -- Star Fleet Admiral Q @ your service! I have also a problem related to the same topic. Everytime I open my eMails
in the Outlook Express I get a notice saying: The server could not be found. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: '', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 12007, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D. Could anyone help me solve this problem? Thanks, Lee "Patrick" wrote: How can I set up an outlook express account to receive my hotmail emails (I just need to know what to put in the pop3 entry in account setup) Thanks -- Patrick |

If you opened your account within the past year or so then you need an MSN Premium account to access Hotmail via a mail client. |

I suppose you could log on to oe.hotmail.com at
http://services.msn.com/svcs/h*otmail/httpmail.asp to see if it offers any suggestions. Michael "Lee" wrote in message ... I have also a problem related to the same topic. That should be
http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp Not sure why when you cut & paste a URL from a Google post it always adds a 'hyphen' somewhere in the URL when you click on it in a newsgroup post. In this case after the 'h' in hotmail. http://services.msn.com/svcs/h*-otmail/httpmail.asp Go figure. Michael "Michael T" wrote in message ...
