Default Deleting Files

Every time I try to delete documents I keep getting copies of copies. Some
of my documents have been recopied 300 - 400 times. I have tried right click
and hitting delete to send to the recycle bin and I get a new copy of the
same thing, I don't know what else to do. I was going to try to delete
everything in my documents but there are thing there I don't want to delete.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

Here are a few things to try:

Do a search for "copy of" (in that specific folder, to speed up the
search). If you agree you want to delete all the files found, press
Ctrl/A to select all, and press Delete key. A Ctrl/Click of specific
filenames can deselect them from the highlighted list. Remember, a
Ctrl/Z soon after the Delete action should restore the deleted files
from the Recycle Bin.

Also look at these possible fixes:

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/rcdelay.htm

Copy/Paste Problems? Click Start, Run, and enter these lines:

regsvr32 ole32.dll (Press Enter key)
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll (Press Enter key)

Also try Kelly's tweak (you'll find instructions at the top of the page).

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these
Web pages.
Help with malwa
All MS-MVP Sites.
Consider this: Whenever a new error condition appears on your computer, it
is almost certain that there was some change to the computer soon before the
problem began.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is
being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure of.

I know it sounds stupid...but.......
I got exactly this problem until I realised that I was deleting messages, etc
from my "deleted items " file which I had open at the time. For a short
while this was quite mistifying :-))
