With Windows XP I could copy files from the "Temporary Internet Files"
folder to a permanent folder. Where are viewed video files such as YouTube
videos stored on Windows 7? I can find a "Temporary Internet Files" folder
but it doesn't seem to be the same as on XP and does not contain similar
files. Any help, please? Thanks.

I suggest you use a dedicated YT file downloader, like Clogwog suggests.
That way you have control over where the files are saved, and also in what
format they are saved. DownloadHelper is easy to use, but is only available
for the Firefox platform.

But does anybody know where on the system they're held? I've copied
other 'uncopyable' files that way and it would be nice to know where
to look for them now.

There's a Firefox plugin called 'Video Download Helper' (or
similar) that does that. It puts a drop-down button on the tool
bar. When there's media files on the page, you can click the
tool bar button and it will drop down with a list of saveable
file on it.

Thanks, and I do see that things can still be captured from there.

I installed this Firefox add-in yesterday, and it works fine:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10137/

It's "Easy YouTube Video Downloader 4.0".
