Network Connection Status Change
"Paul" mackenator2001@yahoo(dot)com wrote in message
... I'm not sure if there is a simple or quick answer for this question, but any insight would be greatly appreciated. I have a local SQL Dbase that runs in the local domain profile. All data and settings are located on the local machine, however, when the network cable is unplugged I recieve an error stating that the network is not available. Is there a setting that when the network is unplugged, may have an impact on a SQL database running on the local machine. Maybe an easier question is: What settings/configs change on the local machine when the network connection is changed from Acive=Inactive and back again. Hopefully this is somewhat coherent. Any advice will be appreciated. This is because of the media sense feature, I suspect. When it detects the cable is unplugged, that disables the network card and all the associated network components that are bound to it. Try disabling the media sense feature as described he How to Disable Media Sense for TCP/IP in Windows (Q239924) http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;239924 Then, the cable will still report as disconnected, but the network interface will not be disabled. See if that works. -- Best Regards Ron Lowe MVP - Windows Networking |
