Default update again?

For Windows 7 I had:

dinsdag 10 februari 2015
- 9 MS security updates (reboot)

and next day again:

woensdag 11 februari 2015
- 1 MS security update (reboot)

I suppose they forgot that one yesterday?

Same story for Vista:

woensdag 11 februari 2015
- 6 MS security updates (reboot)

and next day:

donderdag 12 februari 2015
- 1 MS security update (reboot)

The algorithm should be:

repeat (
visit Windows Update
install updates
reboot
) until no more updates show

Some updates show up, after the reboot, which
is why you enter Windows Update again (immediately),
to see whether it really is clean or not.

The other possibility, is your lone update is a
virus definitions file, and not a security patch
as such.

No, it was an Explorer update (in both cases).
Sometimes I do have a single update for virus defs, but luckily this doesn't
require a reboot each time.

Sometimes an update has to be installed before another one can be and a
restart done.

You have automatic updates selected and that is why you see another one
the next day.

Automatic update notification that is...

What I don't get is that though you know English yet you don't use it
for the names of the week.

Maybe he's quoting his messages literally - as he should.

It's easy enough to translate the names into English - rather obvious,
I'd say.

In my case it showed up the next day (woensdag 11 februari 2015).

Mine was labeled Security update for Internet Explorer 11.

I do have a notification - new today, donderdag - for an update to MSE
definitions, but it's clearly a different animal.

OT - I can't figure out why MSE updates automatically and also notifies
me sometimes from inside Windows Update. ****es me off, truth to tell.

Even with an IE update it is still wise to reboot. IE is so integrated
into the OS that it can't hurt. None of my 5 computers stay on all the
time so there is no problem. I view the updates and decide what to
install.

Me too.

If I don't do the reboot after the updates tell me to, I may
come back to the computer and have a warning that it will reboot in xx
minutes.

I didn't write that I didn't reboot after the Explorer update.
There's no way around it: user is forced to reboot.

I always insert the current dates with Notepad in my install log file, from
which I copied into the e-mail.

Provided later and only after the IE cumulative update was installed.

Remember, Explorer and Internet Explorer are two completely different
animals.
Always wondered why MS named them so. Easy to confuse and causes confusion
when reporting problems.

Windows Explorer (explore the file systems) was the replacement for File
manager, and predates "Internet Explorer" which is a somewhat logical
extension of the practice.

And...on Win8 it's called File Explorer (fka Windows Explorer)
