Default Lost access to my DVD drives

Installed NTI Media Makerand Digital Flix. Cannot access drives. Removed
Media Maker. Same result. Device manager shows "Windows cannot load the
device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing.
(Code 39)". I uninstall drives, and reboot; drives are recognized ,but same
result. Trying to upgrade drivers via troubleshooter gives me "The wizard
could not find a better match for your hardware than the that you currently
have installed." Suggestions please. Thank you in advance.

That's some good detective work.. many would just wait to be blindly led
to the solution. Congrats!
