Exclamation Setting Up an AFP Share from windows XP

Hi,
Currently i have 3 macs ( Macbook, iBookg3 x2)
To backup via time machine they need to access an afp share.

I also have a windows xp headless system that holds the drive i want to share. What i wanted to know is if there is a way to share a folder in windows xp using afp?

Thanks in advance

Do you mean Time Capsule? AFAIK if you have a mixed OS network (Macs and
Windows) you need to use SMB instead of AFP.

Why are you using AFP? As I said before, you don't want to use AFP in a
mixed network. Windows uses SMB. You can easily change this from System
PreferencesSharingOptions button.

He wants to use AFP because if you ever need to (gasp!) reinstall OSX from a
Time Machine backup he will not have access to an SMB share as SMB
connectivity is not included on the OSX install disc. There is a product
called ExtremeZ-IP that runs all your SMB shares as AFP shares, but it is
very expensive.
