Default I cannot establish file sharing on XP home edition

When I try to establish file sharing I get the following message: “An error
occurred while trying to share FOLDERNAME. The
server service is not started. The shared resource was not created at this
time.”

I tried the fix suggested elsewhere in this forum to: To start the Server
service:

1. Open a command prompt window: Start All Programs Accessories
Command Prompt.

2. Type this line at the prompt, then press Enter:

net start server

This didn't work. I got the following message: The server service could
not be started. A system error has occurred. System error 2 has occurred.
The system cannot find the file
specified.

Can anyone help?

Try this...

"You receive a "The server service is not started" error message when
you try to add a user to a group in Windows XP"

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885859

You've essentially already tried Method 1 -- try Method 2 and 3.
