Would like to remove Microsoft Office Click-To-Run 2010 (Protected)
When I open "Computer", there appears under "Hard Drives" this:
Microsoft Office Click-To-Run 2010 (Protected) (Q Q: also shows up in file manager programs. I tried uninstalling but it just is not there. So how do I remove that icon/listing/whatever from "Computer" and the other file managers? Thanks. |

This article^1 says that the Q drive and CTR are installed when such as Office Starter is installed. When you say "I tried uninstalling... " that statement is ambiguous. It could mean that you do not want anything to do with Office Starter or any of its features such as the virtual Q drive and the icon and you want everything uninstalled, Starter, CTR, the virtual Q drive etc. OR It could alternatively mean that you DO want Office functionality but you don't like the icon or the virtual Q drive. If you want to get rid of the whole enchilada, you would uninstall the Office Starter (or similar) and then follow the instructions in the article linked below to get rid of the residual virtual drive which gets left behind after uninstallation. If you don't want to get rid of the whole Office enchilada but only the icon or the Q drive evidence, you should say so clearly and unambiguously in your question. ^1 http://www.ghacks.net/2011/11/25/how...virtual-drive/ How To Remove The Office 2010 Starter Virtual Drive -- Mike Easter |

The article says: Open the Windows Control Panel and search for the Programs and Features applet. Did that. Locate Microsoft Office Click-to-Run 2010 (or another version depending on the Office Starter version installed) and select to uninstall it. Not present. (I.e., already uninstalled at some earlier point in time.) It also says: Microsoft Office Click-to-Run 2010 gets installed alongside Microsoft Office Starter 2010. This is the program responsible for the creation of the virtual drive on the operating system. MP Starter is also missing. That article doesn't do anything in the registry. Articles never do. :-) However, an uninstall will make changed to the registry, so I guess I missed your point. That article also says that after the above, a restart is necessary to get rid of the virtual drive. Done and done. The F***er is still there. |

I've been searching for a way to stop the DAILY pop-up ... telling me to UPDATE the Microsoft Office 2010 Starter program. This message didn't address that, but did make me wonder if I could SAFELY remove the 3 programs I have for Office 2010, Starter, Click to Run? I don't use MS Office programs [that I know of], but friends of mine occasionally send me something that requires a Power Point viewer, is it tied to Office, or are there any other features I would lose ... if I uninstalled all of the Office programs, that I am unaware of? Do I need that virtual drive mentioned above? Or does someone know how I can stop that nagging pop up any other way? : ) TIA ..... bj |

I added to that thread, because it explained why I was worried about just trying to uninstall these Office programs. Your patience is appreciated. bj |
