Default System Restore Points not available

I usually delete the most recent restore points to save disk space and now,
for the past week, the system no longer creates them. I have left the
computer on overnight and still when I open system restore it says "There are
no system restore points available". I have enough disk space. Does anyone
know what else could cause this?

Why would you delete the most recent ones? It's the older ones that should
be purged. Also, precisely how did you remove them? Not doing it properly
leaves the indexes in place, and makes a mess of the restore function.
Usually turning it off and back on will correct this, but you may also need
to delete the existing System Volume Information folders in the interim. Use
the percentage of drive space function to control how many points are
retained.

If Restore Points take to much space, the proper thing to do is to reduce
the space used in System Restore Settings.
Hopefully you are not deleting the Restore Points directly, that can cause
problems.

Many things can cause loss of Restore Points, when they are gone, they are
gone and can not be recovered or used.

How do you do this? There's no way to do this. Your only choices
are to delete them all or all but the last one.

Probably your deleting them improbably. Turn System Restore off,
then back on, and it should work properly again. In the future
don't try to delete them yourself, without going through the
proper way to do this.

Thanks for the prompt response. I'm sorry I meant I deleted the oldest ones.
When I run disk clean up i go to the more options tabs that says delete all
but the most recent restore points. I have turned off system restore,
restarted the computer and turned system restore on again but it hasn't fixed
the problem. How can I delete the system volume information folders?

Hi,

You need to take ownership of them while system restore is disabled. Please

Hi,

Set the system to show hidden and system folders. Go to the Control
Panel/Folder Options, and on the View tab, set the options so you can see
hidden and system files. Specifically:

Enable (check) "Display the contents of system folders"
Enable (check) "Show hidden files and folders"
Disable (uncheck): "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)"

I also recommend that you disable (uncheck) "hide extensions for known file
types". Then check the root of each volume for the System Volume Information
folder.
