See: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...ce351fb?auth=1 Thank you very much, Norman! I am running Malwarebytes Anti malware Home Premium. I just ran it and it picked up 'PUP.Optional.MindSpark'. It usually picks up a lot of 'Pup' files routinely but somehow missed this one. Could this have caused my problem? Note it is only TASKENG.COM that is the problem. TASKENG.EXE is a legitimate Windows program (it runs the Task Scheduler that Windows - and other - apps use to automatically run tasks and applications at scheduled times). The legitimate TASKENG.EXE runs from C:\windows\system32. You generally do not want to delete this file (unless you really know what you are doing) and antivirus knows to leave it alone too. TASKENGs running from other locations are usually fair game though ;-) |

It hasn't reappeared so I must have done something right, although I don't know what Malwarebytes is likely what solved your issue as you reported it found and removed Mindspark. Did any of the other utilities report finding suspicious files or entries? No, none at all. Incidentally the reason I was surprised you asked me is because you know I report back so I thought you knew something I didn't Force of habit.
