Now, How to get MSE

Well, its me yet again, in trouble with Win 8.

I knew I had no malware protection so Googled Miscrosft Security
Essentials.
A long list came up --- top one a "Download Microsoft Secuity
Essentials" page. Carelessly, I failed to notice that it was not
Microsofts "official" download site.
Well --- what I got was a total foul up. First it set IE as the
default search engine, installed some toolbars I can't remove
and most of all, prevents or blocks real downloads of MSE
(the official site says it was downloaded, but when I do
a search for it it isn't found).
So, by hasty action has totally mesed up the computer.
Any helpful ideas would be much appreciated.

I still have an installer for AVG2014 . But even if that works,
it will bring a host of new problems!
