Video Help - Part Deux

I'm having the same problem with my XP Pro puter, the same message on the
monitor that there is no signal. When I boot up, all lights come on as
usual, sounds as if the HD is spinning, all the usual sounds. Prior to this,
there were beeps indicating a video problem, so I changed the card. The only
thing I can think of is that the original card was AGP, this one is PCI (does
this make a difference?), I made sure that everything was properly seated and
connected. Still no joy.
Also, in order to turn it off, I'd have to disconnect the wall plug, the
button won't do it.
Any helpful input would be appreciated.

Check the motherboard to see that you have installed the CPU, power cables
etc and set all Jumpers [if any] in the correct position.

If you haven't seated the Video Card absolutely square in its scoket it will
cause problems.

It may also be easier to try your hardware with the minimum configuration
and 'build up'.

So for trouble shooting in step one:

NO DISKS [not Floppy, Hard Drive or Optical]
Absolutely minimum plug in items on Mobo [one memory module, no video card -
if there is onboard video etc.]

This will help you ensure that you are chasing down the least possible
number of variables.

Once you have a basic setup working, then add extras, one at a time and
check that BIOS is happy with the config.
