Light blue haze coveres the screen - Corel Draw software.
I need to run Corel Draw 12 (old) but while it loads as soon as it
appears my twin screens become covered by a light blue haze making them unusable. I have found that this is a common problem. The best I can find is: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...2-43b601cd9436 or https://tinyurl.com/y2m9s874 "I have the exact same problem. I am running Nvidia drivers with Windows 10 Professional 64 bit and Corel Draw 12. I installed it about 2 years ago and had the same problem and then solved it (though all I can remember it was a simple setting that I think reduced the color when you click the screen so it was clear instead of blue and I think it went from 6 to 1 or 0). I had to reinstall and cannot remember the setting. So I know for a fact it is fixable if you can find the setting. I think it may have been outside Corel Draw program itself but I remember when i found it I was astonished that neither Corel (who just wants to sell you an updated program instead of solve the problem) or Microsoft had this in their knowledge base." I too am running 64 bit Windows 10 with NVidia graphics cards. Does this problem ring a bell with anyone or does anyone recognise what the is the "simple setting ... which goes from 6 to 1 or 0"? -- Regards, Eric Stevens |

The question you'd have to ask, is why is it doing that to the whole screen, and only when Coreldraw is running ? Photoshop used to come with a Gamma plugin, which you could install on a system. Then things like video card control panels got gamma adjustments. The OS has a "night light" feature, which means it adjusts the blue in an effort to avoid "blue light" striking the user in the face. What does it do when Coreldraw activates some sort of color space control ? There are just too many controls all over the place. https://community.coreldraw.com/talk...age-background Not every LCD monitor has a driver in Windows 10, but here's an example of the one on the Test Machine. You can see it lists an ICM file as being included, and the ICM specifies how the monitor displays color. It's also possible for a driver to just include the max_res Registry setting and not have an ICM, but that would be a waste of electrons to release such a driver (as it would be pointless). The main reason for issuing a monitor driver, is to "give" the user the manufacturer ICM table. https://i.postimg.cc/Gp6sb8fs/icm.gif I could try disabling that, to see if the blue caste goes away. Disabling the monitor driver, should not disable the monitor. You may have to research ICM on monitors, to find other ways of controlling it. Using a Spyder, you can generate a "custom" ICM, rather than the "generic" one released by the manufacturer. Westinghouse never releases monitor drivers for their stuff, so you would expect to see some sort of "Generic Monitor" entry for it instead. I'm really surprised Acer bothered to submit that driver. There have been problems in the past, when each monitor is different and has its own ICM, and the OS couldn't deal with that properly. That's another topic to research if using multiple monitors. Technically, you'd expect a color translation table "per head" on the video card, but with things like Eyefinity, where one plane drives three monitors via the crossbar, it's hard to say how ICM is handled there. Color management for professionals is likely a hair loss thing. Paul |

No, nothing rings a bell when it comes to a very old app. However, have you tried to run it in compatibility mode? To do this, right-click on the desktop shortcut and then choose Properties. You will then see a tab for Compatibility. This is the only "Simple Setting" I can think of. Assuming this is a setting for some!! When the softwear emerged it was written for W2000 and XP. Windows says I should use XP Service Pack 3. However I have tried every compatibility mode there is and and it makes no difference. -- Regards, Eric Stevens |

Then your discussion regarding the merits of the colour calibration button made me realise that there should be an arrow from Generic internal RGB profile to Generic Monitor in Colour Management, which was not there, except it was but just not highlighted. clicked this to make it visible" It's possible Coreldraw is overriding the whole ICM for the screen, rather than attempting some gamma type thing just for the viewing window itself. What does it do when Coreldraw activates some sort of color space control ? This doesn't add a blue tint to the screen colours. It is a milky-blue overlay like an additional layer interposed between the viewer and the screen. It is possibly to peer through it and activate control buttons etc but for practical purposes it renders the screen unusable. For an example see https://www.dropbox.com/s/vye63pxpj8...0Haze.jpg?dl=0 There are just too many controls all over the place. With many working at cross purposes. https://community.coreldraw.com/talk...age-background Not every LCD monitor has a driver in Windows 10, but here's an example of the one on the Test Machine. The main reason for issuing a monitor driver, is to "give" the user the manufacturer ICM table. https://i.postimg.cc/Gp6sb8fs/icm.gif Therre is unlikely to be a problem in that area. I am using two Dell UP2516D with internal look up tables. When the problem occurs they are both affected equall for the full surface. I could try disabling that, to see if the blue caste goes away. Disabling the monitor driver, should not disable the monitor. You may have to research ICM on monitors, to find other ways of controlling it. Using a Spyder, you can generate a "custom" ICM, rather than the "generic" one released by the manufacturer. I'm afraid not. Corel products have been colour managed right from the get go. CorelDraw v12 is quite old. Didn't have 12 but had 11 and X3 and I think it was X3 that I had trouble with the menus not showing properly when I switch from XP to 7. I had to upgrade at the time to X5 in order to see what I was doing. So if there was a problem with CS vX3 in Windows 7 it would not surprise me that you have issues with CD v12 in Windows 10. Looks like ether VM with XP or an upgrade is in your future. BTW damn Corel has followed Adobe with *subscription* model damn $249.00 annual rate. Why I am still on X8... maybe will buy outright version $500 when force to when this one stops working... -- Take care, Jonathan ------------------- LITTLE WORKS STUDIO http://www.LittleWorksStudio.com |

Are you talking about CorelDraw or WordPerfect? I still run WordPerfect X7, but not for that reason. It's because as far as I'm concerned, there haven't been any significant improvements for the last several versions. Getting a new version isn't worth the money. maybe will buy outright version $500 when force to when this one stops working... I don't know that WordPerfect X7 will ever stop working, and I hope I will never have to buy a new version. -- Ken |
