Default Trouble installing Windows XP

Hi,

I need some assistance installing Windows XP Home Edition.
I just had a new hard drive installed at Best Buys. The
rep said all I needed to do now was install the new Win XP
CD that I bought to get the O/S installed.

I get a screen that comes up with the C:\ prompt. I put
the CD in the drive and typed install after the prompt.
Nothing happened. Then I changed the C:\prompt to D:\ and
typed install. The CD drive started, but nothing came up
on screen. What do I need to do to get the Win XP O/S
installed?

Thanks for all help.

You need to change the BIOS settings so that the CDRO is the first boot =
device to make the CD boot and install. Read the second paragraph under =
"Upgrade Advisor" about booting from the BIOS. The rest of the story =
tells how to do a clean install. There is a link at the bottom to make a =
printable version of those instructions

Default Trouble installing Windows XP

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
