Default SP2 installed: Problems.. Uninstall=New Problem (SpoolerSubsystemApp)

D/L and installed SP2 on my Dell laptop running WinXP home. It had been
fine with SP1, updates and EZ Trust AV & FW.

Now I have numerous glitches including 1. unable to load JPG files from NGs
2. MSN Game zone..repeatedly drops offline midgame..blocking something from
the Zone site, probably ads & cookies which are required to run the games
.. 3 .Hotmail not working 'cause SP2 is blocking something else.

I decided that since everything had been 'fine' with earlier SP1 and the
various updates, I'd uninstall SP2, thereby reverting to the time when
everything worked better. Uninstalled SP2 and most new problems went away,
but now I get repeated "Spooler Sub System App has encountered a problem and
needs to close"
I DID read the microsoft.com scid=324757 after doing a Google but the
dragged out "fix" noted there (deleting files and messing with the registry)
is more than I'm comfortable with. The other fix listed from Microsoft is
to "Install SP2" ..sure

Ideas ?

Hi,

Did you make any changes to the security level. if you had set it to high
then cookies will not be saved and hence hotmail will not work. so you have
to set the security settings to the default settings.

MR: I didnt change any security levels. (they are set to MED). I already
had Computer Assoc EZ Trust AV & FW loaded/running (which MS mailed me with
security update CD for my WIN98PC) so during install of SP2 I did 'try' to
disable the MS AV/FW that came with SP2 preferring to leave the EZTrust in
place ("if it works, dont fix it")
After the SP2 install, I got the undesirable effects noted. About the same
time, I did install a WirelessB connection from this laptop to a Belkin
modem. I may be experiencing some of these symptoms as a result of the
wireless PnP setup although it did seem to install fine.

In any event, I only got the SPOOLER SUB SYSTEM APP warning after the SP2
uninstall.
