Default Computer doesn't connect (but with live cd of ubuntu yes)

hello, my pc with windows xp SP3 IE7 doesn't connect anymore.
I have tried to use command ipconfig but doesn't recognize anything...

I have like connection a particular italian connection that it is under
a lan so I have an hub that before with precedent installation of
windows xp works fast.
In the past with same cd of windows xp and same connection I was
connected on internet during the installation process.

Now same conditions but it doesn't work.
Please

First, let's summarize your problem.
The P/C used to connect via a hub on an Italian Lan.
It still does using a ubuntu CD.
It does not using Win XP SP3.

This would seem to eliminate hardware as the problem.
When the P/C was connecting, were you using win XP SP3 and IE7?

What if any changes to software were made between the time it was
connecting and when it no longer connected.

Can you use ping to "see" anything on the LAN.

At this point with the minimal information you have given, it looks like
You will need to look at the network card (Support chip) network
configuration via device manager.

Without details of the LAN you connect to, I really don't know your
actual problem.
Such things as:
Do you have an address assigned by the LAN (Likely)
Is windows configured properly for networking in your particular
environment?
Does the LAN provide DNS service?
Do you need to use a login process to use the LAN?

Ubuntu can be used to find out most of the details needed to setup Win
XP to work in your situation.
