Hi

I have just got a new laptop running Windows 10 Pro with all the latest
updates. I log in with a Local Account as i don't want/need a Microsoft
Account

If I check on the Settings Page I see a Windows Update status and next
to this another icon prompting me to sign into Rewards. This does not
appear on any of my other PCs.

Not a big problem but can I make this prompt go away.

I haven't seen that on any of my Win10 machines either, but a quick google
shows that it's MS Rewards and if you don't want to participate in the
Rewards program, you have to opt out. But, and I'm only guessing here,
you'll have to log in first to opt out. Kind of a catch 22 :-(

I have a Signing Into Rewards prompt on mine. I've seen that.

I assumed that if I were to sign in, the search provider
on all my browsers would be bludgeoned by thugs, and
a Bing cardboard dummy would be seated in the search seat.

Flavors of Rewards programs have been around for a while with
Bing. They were "paying people to use Bing" some time ago.
You would be given an account and "earn points", to what
purpose I don't know. Whether you can convert the points
into a free toaster at some point, or whatever.

Since the info here is from 2018, this might not work today,
but it's worth a shot.

"...A new option will be available that says

Get fun facts, tips, and more on your lock screen.

Click the toggle switch to turn it off.
"

Marketing campaigns get into the machine, if you do not
turn off the more evil of settings. It pays to waste 20 minutes
of your time, and scan *every* blinkered page in the Setup
wheel, looking for "traps and scams". The settings will not
be written in plain English, as in "Fun facts" = "Scam/Spam/Trick".
