"Double-Wide" Taskbar

I inadvertantly moved my taskbar to the side of the screen; when I moved it
back to the bottom, the taskbar had doubled in width [top to bottom];
reducing the size with the little double arrow makes it disappear altogether,
below the screen. I've tried deleting and replacing all shortcut
icons,showing and hiding the clock in the tray at the right, and nothing
seems to help. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

This happened to me personally a few days ago. Try to turn of all the toolbars (right click on
taskbar/toolbars/uncheck all the toolbars) and then try to resize it again.

To have a single height taskbar there must be only 1 row of toolbars. =
All toolbars must be left or right of each other not above or below.

Right click the taskbar then click to clear the Lock Taskbar option.

Left click, hold down the button and drag the Taskbar down to the bottom.

Right click the taskbar then click Lock the Taskbar.

Now it can't be moved or resized unless the Lock Taskbar option is cleared
again.

Right click the taskbar then click to clear the Lock Taskbar option.

Move your cursor over the edge of the taskbar until it becomes a
double-headed arrow.

Left click and drag down to the single height.

Right click the taskbar then click Lock the Taskbar.

Now it can't be moved or resized unless the Lock Taskbar option is cleared
again.

If that doesn't work. Remove Quick Launch resize then add Quick Launch
back.

Left click and hold an empty spot of the taskbar and drag it to the bottom
of the screen.
The taskbar has several "components", The System Tray (aka The Notification
Area),
The Taskbar(displays buttons for running programs), and The Start Button.
When resizing the taskbar, you don't have fine control over its size, it
will snap to
sizes that are based on how many rows of icon buttons will be displayed.
If you open My Computer, you'll see an button on the taskbar for it, drag
the taskbar
to a smaller size, until it's just tall enough to show 1 button. vertically.
That's as small as it will go.

You can also right click an empty part of the task bar, uncheck "lock
the task bar" (above properties) put your curser on the task bar to
where you see an up and down arrow, while holding the left mouse button
move it up or down depending on your preferance, one bar will only show
time, two bars will show you time and day, three bars will show you time
day and date. Remember to go back and recheck "lock the task bar" or it
will move on you again. Tip, if you like three bars you cane auto hide
task bar in tastbar prperties and it will only pop up when you put your
cruser on the bottom of the screen pretty andy if you do alot of
applications aat one time.

Armondo, you seem to be the only one that understood the question. I have
been on several groups in the last 3 days trying to find an answer.
Everything on my taskbars were normal except except I couldn't get the 3 line
time, day and date to return to the default single line time. Your solution
did the trick - Thank You!
